The main event of the DPRM is the Annual Public Policy Conference. This year’s conference, which has the theme "Critical Perspectives on Federalism for Regional Development", will be held on September 19, 2017, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The keynote speaker will be Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Dr. Ernesto Pernia. Papers to be presented include various topics on federalism such as an international perspective on federalism, political economy of federalism reform, federalism and the challenge of politics and administration in the Philippines, designing the fiscal features of a federal form of government in the Philippines, and regional development and the delineation of Philippines federal states.

The Annual Public Policy Conference, which started in 2015, aims to convene experts and researchers in the social sciences to flag to policymakers critical issues that must be addressed in the immediate term. It is envisioned to serve as a platform to further bridge research and policymaking and enhance evidence-informed planning and policy formulation in the country.

This conference will also be available via live streaming at http://livestreaming.pids.gov.ph.
